Sonia Montejano is running for Sheriff of Los Angeles County because she believes our communities deserve a department built on excellence, accountability, and exemplary public service. Sonia has devoted her professional life to law enforcement and is committed to creating the department she wishes she had joined—one where deputies are supported, expectations are clear, and promotions are earned on merit.
As Sheriff, Montejano will advocate for the tools deputies need to do the job safely and effectively: updated technologies, competitive wages, and scenario-based training. She will also work towards improved infrastructure that better houses those who are incarcerated—facilities that are safer, more functional, adequate and more aligned with basic human dignity and modern-day efficiency.
Montejano’s vision extends beyond the department itself. She plans to revive youth and volunteer programs that strengthen community ties, build trust, and prevent crime before it starts. By investing in relationships and local partnerships, she will work to improve public safety in a way that is sustainable, expansive and shared.
